Craft your story

Writers of the ancient world waited for the muse to inspire them. Today, we don’t need to wait: we can seek our own muses to bring our writing to life.

Hunting the Muse is a site for content and creative writers like you to craft writing that feels authentically yours.

Lean into your unique voice, get read more often through a consistent practice, and truly connect with readers through the written word.

Let's explore

The topics we cover are strictly for the curious

Creativity

Where do ideas come from? And how do you access the ones that make a difference? We study how these sparks of creativity work and help you overcome creative blocks.

“Original minds are not distinguished by being the first to see a new thing, but instead by seeing the old, well-known thing, which is over-looked by everyone, as something new.”

― Friedrich Nietzsche

Story

To capture the imagination of people, ideas need structure. We will learn about the elements that make powerful stories, and how they inspire us to think, feel, and act.

“When we look for the meaning of life, we want a story that will explain what reality is all about and what my particular role is in the cosmic drama.”

― Yuval Noah Harari

Content and copywriting

The way we engage with writing evolves all the time. We research modern marketing trends and timeless copywriting tips so you can reach, teach, and engage your audience with originality.

“It takes a big idea to attract the attention of consumers and get them to buy your product. Unless your advertising contains a big idea, it will pass like a ship in the night.”

— David Ogilvy

Hello, I’m Tom 👋

How can I be a better writer” is a question I’ve had since the days my teachers predicted I’d be a journalist (spoiler: I didn’t).

Instead, I studied English and creative writing at university—three years of learning from legendary stories and writing not-so-great ones. When I published a fiction novella, only my dad bought it… so I was determined to reach more people with my words.

For over eight years, my passion for writing has led me to work with education, media, and consulting businesses, creating hundreds of content pieces and hosting videos and webinars. I’m grateful that thousands of people watch and read what I’ve made every day.

But despite spending years as a writer, I still have so many questions. Like Where do authentic writing ideas come from? Or How can I become a better storyteller and public speaker? Or How can I influence people more through shorter copy

Hunting the Muse is a site dedicated to answers, by combining the insights of classic storytellers with my own experiences as a writer in the digital age.
